September 8, 2023 – The past few years have been an unprecedented time of change and challenge. Through difficult times, it is common to feel stressed, anxious and overwhelmed. The Future Ready Initiative (FRI) and the Canadian Mental Health Association, BC Division (CMHA BC) are excited to collaborate in building awareness of mental health challenges, resiliency, and resources to give Canadians the confidence to deal with the stresses and challenges of everyday life.
“We are living at a time of unprecedented change. Since the pandemic, there has been an increase in mental health issues, a change in the type of employment and entrepreneurial opportunities available, along with accelerated immigration. This has resulted in a profound change in people’s lives, and increased the overall vulnerabilities in families and communities. The Future Ready Initiative endeavors to instill agency and motivate participants intrinsically. We are excited to partner with CMHA BC to grow awareness and education around mental health,” shares Dr. Moez Rajwani, Executive Director, FRI.
The Future Ready Initiative has brought together five programs in unison with other Jamati services. These programs include the:
- Family Mentorship Program
- Future of Work & Future of Business
- Youth Mentorship
- Mental Health
- Settlement Excellence
The Canadian Mental Health Association provides programs that empower participants to learn mental health and wellbeing skills; community-level resources through local branches; and support in finding help for mental health. CMHA BC is supporting the Future Ready Initiative with mental health resources and services.
“It can be overwhelming to know where to start in seeking support for ourselves or a loved one,” says Elisa Perez, Early Intervention Programs Director. “We are grateful to collaborate on promoting mental health, and to contribute to the important resources of the Future Ready Initiative.”
Please visit the Future Ready Initiative website for more information and stay tuned as resources are continually added.
