October 21, 2022 – CMHA BC has become aware of a cyber incident affecting some of our systems and we have notified the appropriate authorities. We have engaged with cybersecurity experts to help us resolve this issue. Our service-dependent client and participant health information systems were not impacted by this incident and are operational. CMHA BC will continue to serve the community as we deal with this matter.
(Update) December 20, 2022 – In response to the cyber incident in October, we commenced a thorough investigation and remediation effort led by external cybersecurity experts. At CMHA BC we have always taken privacy and data security very seriously with industry-standard security measures to protect our information systems and data. We aim to continuously improve our cybersecurity and data protection program and in response to the incident, we have implemented additional safeguards with the assistance of a leading cybersecurity firm. Throughout, we worked closely with all relevant authorities, employees, external experts, and our partners.
