CMHA staff, volunteers and supporters will be dressing up in all the colours of the rainbow to show support to Vancouver’s LGBTQ2+ community and participate in the 39th Annual Vancouver Pride Parade on Sunday, August 6.
Social inclusion and freedom from discrimination and violence are significant determinants of positive mental health. Research shows that LGBT people have higher rates of mental health challenges than the general population and often struggle with depression, anxiety, trauma and self-acceptance as a result of facing ongoing discrimination over their lifetimes.
CMHA believes strongly in embracing and celebrating diversity and we know that acceptance and living free from prejudice and stigma makes for a mentally healthier community for everyone. And that is our ultimate goal—mental health for all!
We are calling on our supporters to join us on the route!
- When: Sunday, August 6, 2017 at 11:30am
- Where: The parade route starts at Robson & Thurlow and follows to Denman then turns on to Beach, ending at Sunset Beach. CMHA’s staging number is BS4 which corresponds to where marchers need to meet – Section B on the South side of Robson Street between Thurlow Street and Burrard Street. View the map
- Attire: CMHA gear or brightly coloured clothing. It will be HOT out so be prepared with hats and sunscreen. Colourful flags, costumes, streamers, giveaway items etc. are all encouraged.
