HEADTALK – From Red to Green: Emotional Regulation for Children and Youth
Our Talkers are mental health advocates who have developed and delivered programs focused on emotional regulation for children and youth. Dr. Derek Poteryko, the Medical Director of Community Services for Island Health has developed a mental health program for teens. And Tara Woolf is the Manager of Confident Parents, Thriving Children, a CMHA phone-coaching program for parents. During their HeadTalk, these two passionate and knowledgeable speakers will:
- Share current research findings and trends pertaining to emotional regulation among three different age groups: Preschool (4-6), Early Years (6-12) and Youth (13-18)
- Discuss what can be done at home to build on work being done in schools and child care environments
- Share with participants when they should consider accessing assistance and resources
- Provide participants with tools or tactics they can practice with their children
- Share types of resources that participants can tap into locally.
