The Board of Directors of the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), BC Division is pleased to announce the appointment of Jonathan Morris as the Division’s new CEO.
Jonathan Morris brings over twenty years’ experience in community-based mental health and addictions services, policy and advocacy. As well as a decade of experience with CMHA, Morris brings knowledge as a researcher, clinician and teacher in suicide prevention. Most recently, Morris served BC’s first Ministry of Mental Health and Addictions as head of the Policy and Legislation branch.
“The window is open now for huge improvements in mental health and addictions care,” said Morris. “I am excited to join the CMHA team across BC, promoting mental health for all and resilience and recovery for people living with mental illness, problem substance use and addictions.”
“From day one with our ministry, Jonathan Morris distinguished himself as a true leader on the work we are doing to transform BC’s mental health and addictions system,” said Judy Darcy, Minister of Mental Health and Addictions. “In addition to expert guidance, I know firsthand that Jonathan brings dedication, warmth and compassion to every interaction, and I would like to offer my congratulations and wholehearted support as he takes on his new role with CMHA BC.”
